What PMA means for an operator.
Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) lets an independent company produce replacement parts for certificated aircraft once the design and manufacturing processes are approved by the aviation authority. It is how the industry gets a credible alternative to OEM-only supply.
For a maintenance operation, that alternative matters most on high-wear parts: components replaced at nearly every overhaul, where the price and lead time of a single item can decide whether a job is profitable, or even possible.
From shortage to supplied part

Worn and failed parts show where loads concentrate and where material gives up. That evidence shapes the design, not just the drawing.
